OK Nikon got the URL wrong on their site (doh). A long awaited download and they stuff up the URL.

The correct URL for the D2x update dowbload for Windows is
http://nikon-asia.com/downloadstuff/Fir ... 0.0_EN.zip

and for Macintosh

http://nikon-asia.com/downloadstuff/Fir ... .00_EN.sit

I have now got the file.

wel this bit is good AFC mode
i wonderif it improves focus tracking with the 70-200vr
which had issues with af-c

Subject acquisition and tracking performance with autofocus shooting has been increased.

still i think it wouldn't be hard to program a menu item to turn vr of or on fromt he camera not the lens

or more importantly several memory banks to store custom aperture iso and shutterspeed settings and be able to togle between them from the press of 1 button

when they do that i'll be jumpin

anyway

another point - RTFM - you will get 2 .bin files in the download - you copy them ONE AT A TIME to a cf card, do the update with the first file, delete the first file, then copy the second across.

wendell there were some posts on dpreview / nikonians that VR performance was improved on the D200, probably the same with the D2x assuming it's probably the same core software. Dont know about afc yet

The D200 also fixes the af-on with the sigma, did the D2nn have that?

I agree with the in-camera VR option that would be great.

Small OT rant here. I am really mad that Nikon did not have the guts to state all that was in the release (for the D200). My role as an applications development manager - it takes guts to admit you have to do a fix or maintenance release, but this is software! Continuous improvement - the Americans invented it but the Japanese actually implemented it and made it work - what happened??? You can't hide behind being an 'engineering company', actually you are being a coward in not wanting to face your customers.

Don't get me wrong - love Nikon products - but I'd also like to know what the products do

I got the notification on a mailing list that the upgrades were on the Euro site. I figured I would check the Aust/Asia site and there they were. As I don't have a D2....  I didn't try to follow the links.

Glad you figured it out 8) 8)

Cheers,

Sigh.... Firmware upgrade for the D2Hs but not the D2h :(

The AC-free Mirror Lock up for cleaning would be damn handy on the D2H!!

Come on Nikon, there's life in the old beast yet!

I have had the firmware update installed since last week now and shot heavily with it. Love the new features and AF. Recommended.
