I'm wondering if anyone with the d200 has any issues with the operation of the focus mode selector switch on the camera frontto the left of the lens. The Manual to single is a 2 click operation as opposed to the single servo to continuous servo which is a 1 click operation. I tried out a new D200 in Camera hOuse store up here and it was quite firm with definite 1 click stop between each mode. Apart from that strange sensation of 2 clicks to move from manual to single servo eberything seems to be operating normally. Wondering if anyone else has the same issue. Is this the start of a switching problem further down the track, my luck just after it's out of warranty, or is it a quirk of some of the D200 samples. Got mine in late August this year). Tempted to notify service at Maxwell so the problem has been logged well before expiry of warranty. Any suggestions.

erm, sorry to not be offering anythign really useful to you, but maxwells is dead - they just sell bags now, Nikon Australia have taken over...

Marco, mine doesn't have a second click between manual and single..... i guess if everything is working fine then it's ok for now. but i would still be calling someone about it.

Adam that's good to hear. A few others have said they have the same issue but all seems fine. It just gets to be a pain if you're switching blind , at night or without looking. I have accidentally thought I switched back to Single servo after I first clicked it but was still in manual wondering why it was not AF'ing
Do you know if Nikon Australia are up and functional yet? I'd like to notify somebody whilst it is still well in warranty.

Mine does it too and I've read that a lot of people on dpreview have the same problem. I just click down to "C" then back one notch..guaranteed to get it right that way!

No real issue but as you say; annoying!

Liam any word as to why it is like this on some D200? Actually I found out tonight that only the click right opposite the M is manual the next 2 clicks are for single servo and of course the last is Continuous. So I have 2 settings for Single servo, one must be for extra boost

I think some people suggested the switch was originally designed to have 4 positions - not sure why tho!

And this is negated by the fact that some people's D200's don't exhibit the same issue.

on DPReview someone said the old high-end film cameras used to have this.
