70-300 G vs ED

Postby phillipb on Fri Nov 10, 2006 10:35 pm

Many people here, myself included, have the door stopper G model some people here may have the dearer ED model.
Has anyone ever done a comparison of the two, side by side to see just how much better is the ED model?
If some one has the ED and would like a lend of the G for a few test shots, I can let you have mine.

I use to have the 70-300mm ED...and don't think that the single small ED element in the back lens group makes much difference to performance. I'd be suprised if there were any difference between the ED and G except for the lack of aperture ring. Be interesting to find out though as you say :)
