USB Device not recognized

Hi everyone and merry Christmas.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem with my D200 and my desktop PC:
I just connected my D200 to my desktop, turned the D20 on and Windows XP says: USB Device not recognized.
When I plug the D200 into my wife's laptop, XP finds a new device, beeing the D200.
I am successfully running USB devices on my desktop, however the D200
is not recognised and I cannot connect via USB.
I've searched for Microsoft patches, updates etc;
I've also searched for Gigabyte's updates and patches - can't find anything.

Regards,
Christian

Hi Geoff,

thanks for the suggestion - I have tried all USB ports - no difference.
I now have disabled the SIS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller - the desktop recognises the D200 and I can comunicate with the D200.
I found this hint on the Internet - it seems to work but I cannot claim that I know what I'm doing

Cheers,
CD

it isnt something to do with the PTP protocol or whatever it is?

i believe ptp is a different mode of connecting

your computer sounds like its chucking a tantrum, if you know what youre doing, try booting into safe mode and deleting the USB hubs/controllers, these will automatically be re-installed by the pc next time you boot up. this will reset things a bit.

ive had a play with Vista and its USB handling is much better, but it doesnt support some of my hardware.....

Thanks a lot Wider,

I tried that advice which I found on the net; however no success.
I ended up buying a USB PCI card and that allowed me USB-2 connections with my devices AND the D200 again.
SIS 7001 SUCKS !!!
