Fuji S3/S5 compatible with VR?

Does the VR function work on the Fuji bodies?

Wondering if a 70-200VR (or 80-400VR) would work with the S3? And the S5?

Not sure, perhaps the VR is independent of the camera functions, but thats why I'm asking...

thanks in advance :D

Seeing as the S5 is basically a D200 body I would say yes. No idea on the S3 but it is an F mount camera.

Hey Bruce, I would be most appreciative if you bought a S5 and tried it out. Now that Wayne's D2Xs is gone, the S5 is on my hit list.

Cheers
John

I love the D200, and would love the S5 even more.

What I HATE, is the cruddy MB-D200 battery door plasticus k-martium feel.

80% of my shots are verticals, so I need the grip, thats why I am looking at a D2, but the D2x is hard to justify, when I dont "need" more than 4-6 megapixels.

D2h is a nice fit in that space, but toying with the idea of getting an S5, to compliment the D200 (I like the idea of two body/lens for shoots/events as all the settings etc are same.

I also like the idea of less noise over 800 ISO, and the S5 may be worth putting up with the plastic door (as its the images which are more important than the feel of the camera body).

How about the fuji sensor in a D2X body. Now you're talking. No more plastic grip. I think we'll call that rumour the S6E PRO.

Ted's in Sydney had several bodies when I was in there today - $2,700. Maybe try them in Melbourne?

Ted's in Melbourne have 1 in stock (and its their demo). I hate that. If you want to buy one, you pay full retail for their demo one.

Retail for the S5, about $2800, they could do it for about $2600.

Its the D200 body, with completely different software / user interface, and the fuji sensor. In fact, the menu's seemed quite different to nikon, but not so much that its not intuitive.

D2xs is approx $5850, still DOUBLE the S5. Or nearly triple a D200 from HK...

The D200 is such great value, I just wish there was a similar prices body with a vertical grip built in... I guess Nikon need to do somehting to differentiate the D200 to D2xs price difference.
