Manual setting on D200 why does the shutter speed change?

This is probably a really a foot in mouth question but my 200's shutter speed changes when I fire off multiple images when it is set on M for manual. I have sat it on the table and just pushed the button as I thought I may be changing it accidently, can someone please help, Im probably a bit foolish but I would love an answer to this from an experienced D200 user??

Check if you have exposure bracketing switched on accidently.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read in the past that all Nikon DSLRs have a bias towards exposure compensation - i.e. even in manual mode, setting +/- EV will affect the aperture/shutter values.

So... having exposure bracketing on will change the exposure compensation, and hence the aperture/shutter values between shots in the same "bracket".
