Opinions of 17-55mm Nikon lensDoes anyone have this lens and would like to provide a review of it? Its on expensive side, but may be worth it as a very nice replacement of the kit 18-70 lens.

I have had this lens now for quite a while and am extremely happy with it. It's versatile, gives lovely crisp images and is often the only lens I'll use during a shoot, despite my packing every other lens and the kitchen sink in my backpack!
IMHO, I can't recommend it highly enough - I've found it's worth every cent of the big bickies it costs. Nikon D70, Nikon D200, Nikon F100, Nikon 18-70mm, Nikon 50mm, Nikon 17-55mm, Nikon 85mm, Nikon 24mm, Nikon 60mm, Nikon 105mm, Tamron 70-300, SB800, SB28, LSPJ
Re: Opinions of 17-55mm Nikon lens
Maybe some people can comment on its performance, but it would help if you contextualise. Whats your primary application? People, sports, architecture, landscapes, sunsets, sunrise, general purpose, weddings/parties, indoor, outdoor, natural/flash light? Mine is people, so I got the 28-70mm (also just in case Full Frame (FF, non-DX) size sensors come out the life of the lens). But if I wanted general purpose, walk about, I'd love the 17-55. But I think I'd stick with my plan of non-DX, might get the 17-35. Non of this helps you I guess... sorry, dont have it, cant give you a review. One place that may have many comments is dpreview, or thom hogan. Oh, and Ken Rockwell ...
Our very own JordanP did a review on this very lens some time back.

james just some feedback; i bought the tammy and after 2 weeks i had to return it due to a focussing error. a recieved a new one and the lens cap did not clip on properly. i tried other lens caps same problem. i went to the store and they picked up a slightly warped lens barrel so i got a refund.
some quality control issues there, i will liekly end up getting the sigma 18-50mm. its sharper, a bit better built and has a bonus pseudo macro function to boot.
I just bought one a couple of days ago. It is sooo sharp, fast and acurate. I am loving it.
These are some shots with 100% crops to go with them - http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/ind ... 1281051566 I would strongly recommend it Cheers Harry Nikon D80, MB-D80, Nikon 50mm f/1.8, Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8, SB-800, Sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3
