I am looking to swap over from the 17 - 55 to the 17 - 35.

How much is a reasonable price to sell the 17 - 55?
It is in almost new condition I brought it about 18 months ago in HK.
It has the original box and all accessories....

I was thinking in the range of 1100 - 1200?

Is that too much or too little?

Can I ask why you are trading? From what I have heard, there is little difference between the two over the equivalent focal length and, whilst one is designed for smaller sensors, it does have longer reach?

To be honest, and without knowing your intentions, it sounds like you maybe just losing money (unless, of course, you picked up the 17-55 dirt cheap) without gaining too much.

I have not used the 17-55 so am only going on what I have read here when the 17-55 or 35 question comes up.

:D

Olrac - I think your expectations of resale are reasonable. I think you could quite easily achieve this price on ebay considering the good condition of your lens is. I do agree with Patrick though. I have the 17-55 and like it a lot. I have toyed myself with the idea of selling it, and getting the 28-70 (much different focal lenght yes) but I can't do it. The 17-55 is a very fine lens IMHO.

I'm not sure what you should ask, but there is a second hand, as new, 17-35/2.8 on the "Bay" site for $1250, buy now.

Thanks for that guys,

The reason I am thinking about the swap is that I have the 28-70 that I use most and the 35-55 range is covered by this lens...

So when I use the 17-55 it is for the wide end.

I am just thinking that if a FF Nikon comes out in the next year or so I may not be able to swap over this lens (My last DX other than the 10.5) for approx 200 - 300 dollars as I am able to now.

Then agian there will be new lenses with greater range and larger apatures, the lusting never ends....
