Been looking around for a body to act as backup/second body for the D2x.

So far the one that takes the cake is the D200 as it is basically a cut down version of the 2x.

Just wondering what people's opinions are on the D200 good and bad.

And no, I can't afford another D2x unfortunatley

i have a d200 as backup to my d2x and use them together at weddings, of course if one carks it i always have my trusty old d70

If you can justify another D2Xs as a backup then great. We couldn't and the D200 is a perfect backup camera. We like to shoot using both cameras using different lens to save time and possible introduction of dust into the sensor due to lens changes.

I met a commercial photographer yesterday who shoots with 3 Nikon bodies and a 5D as a backup. Does not like changing lens as well was his main reason given. Also redundancy if a camera or CF card fails. Go for it!!!

Do you know what lens is attached to his 5D ?

Simple answer is no. From memory of the discussion and looking at the box as he was testing out the lens it was a f2.8 and L series (red ring around the end of the lens) and would have been a 28 ~70 or 17~50mm but I'm no Canon expert. He used the Canon mainly as a backup and take out P&S style camera (nice to have I guess) but also when shooting in Low Light. He felt the Nikon gave better colour reproduction.

That's what I can recall.......

Thanks Hudo, no need to apologise I was just a little interested in his slightly unusal setup, but if you've got the money you get the best of both worlds.

Yes Katie and I often contenplate (dream) about having a stake in both camps but once your made in the investment in one or the other system you are commited as a part timer.
