D70 not 'detecting' lensesHey guys,
My D70 has started playing up recently, when you connect a lens the F just flashes like there's no lens connected. I went up to Qld last week and put it inside my checked luggage, but it was inside a well padded lowepro bagged, wrapped in clothes and then inside the suitcase. It was working fine for my kit and zoom lenses but when I swapped for my 50mm it started playing up. At first I thought it was a problem with the 50mm and went back to using the other 2 but after getting home it now does it with all my lenses, leading me to think it's more likely to be a fault with the camera. Anyone come across this problem before ? Is there anything I can try before taking it off to get looked at ? The contacts in the camera look clean. Cheers Jay Jay

Didja set the lens to maximum aperture? This is expected behaviour when the lens isn't correctly set.

Yes, this is the first thing I thought too considering it started doing it with my 50mm which I often reverse, but the other 2 lenses do it as well and I hadn't touched anything other than flicking from auto to manual focus. I'll try cleaning the contacts (metho on a cotton bud ? ) but they already look nice and clean... Jay

For future reference if anyone has any similar problems - I sent it off for repair - turned out it was the lens contact unit that packed it in.
$2.69 part, $120 labour Ah well, could have been worse. Back to shooting now Jay
