D300 manual Missing pages

Postby Gripboy on Wed Nov 28, 2007 6:12 am

I picked up my D300 (and lenses) in the US on Friday**. FANTASTIC! I used the plane ride home to work through the manual and have noticed that my English user's manual is missing pages 297-328 (but not the Spanish version ¿por que?.) Is that the case with the cams purchased locally?
I've found in another thread the link to the PDFs so I've got what I need and don't think I need to raise it as an issue with Nikon, I'm just curious if local Aussie manuals are complete.

Mine appears to be complete. It's sourced through HKG though.

But as you note, the PDF version is available online; I wouldn't worry about it.

A couple of points: cameras have never attracted duty. Only GST.

And (probably too late to remind you of this point) the concession limit, per adult, is Au900. If you were traveling on your own, then it's likely that the D300 on its own would have exceeded the concessional limit for one person. With a partner: borderline. Add in some lenses, and these probably are items that need to be declared.

oh yeah, GST not Duty :-)
Funny you should mention the part about traveling alone. I went to the US with my wife, she is returning next week. I told this to the customs inspector and he said that he'd let it go since if we were coming back in together we could have split the value (with a 20% leeway) and would have been fine. I almost didn't declare the gear, but figured with an upcoming citizenship application, I don't need any black marks.

The Customs folks are usually very good if you declared. If you didn't and they catch you however - LOOK OUT!

My D300 manual was missing whole sections and a few were repeated twice, so I had to call Nikon and get them to send another, they sent me a SASE to send back mine so they could examine it...they were so surprised!

Edit: gstark: There was no need whatsoever for this post to have been in bold and italics.

So I have removed them. :)

One of those things that is outsourced, and someone in QC being a bit slack. Guess they just want to get on top of it.
