14-24 Arrived - D3 can't be far offHad a call yesterday from Danny Newhouse at Nikon on Broadway. Said he had 2 x 14-24 lenses in stock and they would go within half an hour. He gave me a better price than the local mob anyway so i snapped it up while it was available. No camera yet to try it on -bummer.
The D3 is expected next week although the local dealer doesn't yet know what quantities they will get. They only got a quarter of the D300's that they ordered. The US supply of d300's was only about a day earlier than us and they are expecting D3's on Monday/Tuesday. Getting impatient now - any luck I'll have it before next Sunday's Christmas BBQ meet at Buderim. Anyone else heard re delivery dates on D3 Bob

Bob - we have a mortgage, sadly no D3 coming our way.
Hope it arrives in time for your BBQ Looking forward to some shots from you! Geoff

I've seen a pro photog in Perth get his so they can't be far off. Japan and USA photogs are also receiving theirs. Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Ansel Adams

Yep, first batches of D3s were sold here in Singapore on Thursday (pretty much all accounted for)
Check this out - this guy bought his D3 on Thu, then the next day he finds out his wife had bought him a D3 as a gift - so now he has two D3s Some guys have all the luck http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2204/207 ... ffde_b.jpg
If your a stormtroopers perhaps.
Regarding this lens, I would be very interested in comparisons between it and the 17-35 mm lens over the common focal range. I might be interested in selling the 17-35 to pick up the 14-24 (given focusing issues with the current lens).

Patrick,
When I get the Camera I'll let you know as I previously owned the 17-35 and 12-24. However I won't have the opportunity to use 17-35 and 14-24 both on the D3 for a fair comparison Bob Bob

Looking at that image shows this guy has some time and some money, this must be his toy room (Xbox360, PS3, cameras, lenses, more lenses in cabinet behind). HB
Be aware that the 14-24 does NOT take filters due to the lens design. So if you are a filter kind of guy , keep your 17-35. cheers, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Ansel Adams

The only filters I use are a UV and sometimes a CPL. Regards, Patrick
