My very first pic... (on a battery with 5% life)

no editing, just point, shoot and resize.

some high ISO examples.

all these following pics were ISO6400, f/5.6 and 1/25 to 1/40... (ap priority mode with no ev compensation).

there's no editing done at all except for resizing.

Clearly, you're not at all a happy person.

I can understand your disappointment in these images. :)

This camera has impressed me so much (after a dozen or so shots around the apartment) that I think I'm going to sell both my D200's and buy another D3. I was going to keep them as backups... but there's no point. I would be so disappointed if I had ever needed to use them, even in an emergency.

Hien,
Can you comment on the sharpness at high ISO compared to your D200 ? Does there appear to be an sacrifice in sharpness for a cleaner image ?

at higher ISO it's a lot sharper. the d200 would break up after ISO800 odd but even at 6400 on the D3 there is distinct differences in the border colours with really fine grain thats not chunky like the d200.

Also, higher ISO allows me to shoot at faster shutter, so I can now shoot at say 1/100 instead of the 1/30 slowest shutter speed i was using before.

Happy is an understatement right now. It's worth every cent.

Going to slap the 70-200 on and see what it looks like...

Had a quick walk around tjust then. It was raining but it didn't stop me.
Here are a few pics from around Melbourne city.

All various ISO shooting AP prio f/2.8.

Originals can be downloaded with exif attached.

The images havent been edited in any way at all and came straight out of the camera. I boosted the contrast up in the jpg custom menu but everything else is set as normal.

Raining in Melbourne? Who'd a thunk it? :)

Nice images. How are you enjoying the Full Frame format?

Get out into the roadway, with the 14-24, 14mm, 1/15, and start shooting the passing traffic. :)

Next plan is to go back out at 5.30PM odd for some high ISO street shooting with the 24-70 :P more streets and laneways, rather than candids and ppl.

You realise that you have now ruined photography for everyone who uses a sub D3 camera....

The shots on SmugMug are a great reason to save save save : )

They don't look too bad, but one must remember this is 7 stops faster than ISO400, which is where I would probably want to take the D200 at the most.
