Well my two cents is that both Nikon and Canon make excellent cameras. For far too long Canon has been in front of Nikon in terms of high impact releases and, as a Nikon owner, it's good to see there is FINALLY a decent low noise choice from Nikon. As for how a D300 or a D3 stacks up against a Canon - I don't give a rat's rear end nor do I see any value in pointing it out other than as an idle curiosity. Bottom line is I've invested in Nikon glass so I'm only interested in a Nikon
even if there was a better Canon. And I'm not a ship jumper in the same way you won't see me zip in and out of traffic lanes to arrive 2 minutes earlier at my destination.
So of more interest to me are comparisons within a brand (eg some recent comparisons of a Nikon D2x with a Nikon D300).
