Test driving the D300

A friend of mine (Philip Tang), who is an avid avian photographer, was out test driving the D300 this weekend (he usually uses the D2Xs). Thought some of the members here might be interested in some of the images he took (admittedly downsized for the web)

D300, 600mm F4, 1.4X TC, F8, 1/500s, 0EV, ISO 800, Spot metering, Auto WB

I wish I wasn't seeing these type of images...the lust is becoming stronger!!

The images up to ISO 1000 are definitely usable. The ISO 1600 image has some unwanted artifacts.

These just make me happier that my order went in today. :D

Thanks Gooseberry. Philip's work is brilliant. I can't remember seeing a clearer, sharper kingfisher image.

Now, if I only had a 600/f4 to match my D300. (Oh, and a couple of cooperative birds as well....)
