Resetting or changing sequence numbersIn my haste to use my D300 for the first time, I forgot to format the card I put in it which has images taken with the D70. The D300 used to images on the card to determine the next sequence number so my very first ever photograph with the D70 is named DSC_3641.NEF. Does anyone know of a way to reset or change the sequence number? I thought I had done it previously with my D70 but can't remember.
OK, I fixed it.
There is an option "Reset" for d6: File Sequence Number which will reset the number to 0001 or one more than the last file in the folder. As I had taken 3 photos, I just put a DSC_0003.NEF on the card and took a photo. The next one was DSC_0004.NEF.
D70S - Changing image name. The shutter count on my D70S is (only) 6180. I am taking images with a filename 39 less i.e. DSC_6141.NEF - I would like to change the filenames to match the shutter count.
I have tried having a single image on a memory card and renaming to the desired number and taking another shot, however the camera just creates a new folder (101ND70S) and uses the next number in the original sequence. Any ideas on how to achieve this renumbering?
Re: D70S - Changing image name.
Not that I know you can do this... the camera remembers the last sequence number and won't match with the actual shutter count. But either way when it reaches 10,000 it resets itself back to DSC_0000
I think the only thing the D70 lets you do is reset the sequence to DSC_0001. You could do this once you get to 10,000 shutter actuations: change File No. Seq. (Setup Menu) to "Reset" and your next shot will be DSC_0001.
