cmon Nikon are not creating great works of literature - they are in the business of selling cameras. Why do they even restrict the download of the manual to people who have a camera serial number?
.
What does it matter why they do it? They own the intellectual property in the manual, it is their right to do with that as they please.
With all due respect, we have rules here, and we are site that is dedicated to photography. That, by its very nature, dictates that we have and hold a respect to the IP of not only those members who choose to post their images here, but also to any others who post .... whatever ... on the internet.
You might not consider it to be a work of literature, but it is, and always will be, the IP of Nikon. There is nothing further that needs to be considered. Nothing!
That you may choose to not respect the IP of others is not my concern. That we ensure a consistent and safe environment for our members is entirely our concern, it is entirely appropriate, and it is absolutely essential. That I, as the owner of this site, do what I need to do in order to not be sued by the owners of the IP for its illegal dissemination might not be a concern of your's, but it is one of mine.
That you might not like that concerns me not one bit. Not at all.
Please do not come back here with your disrespectful, thieving attitude. It is not welcome.
And if you had bothered to even take the time to read the whole thread, you would have noticed that the link that you provided had already been given within this thread. Along with another method by which a copy of the printed manual may be obtained directly from Nikon.
