More AiS acquisitions

Ok, I'm happy I did this because I got a AiS 35mm f1.4 from my friend, it was given to him from his uncle and the agreement was that I exchange my AFD 50mm f1.4 for it (he's a videographer and travelling next year so he has no time for manual focusing, so he saids), which I thought was a great deal.

I'm also trading one of my SB800 for his AiS 180mm f2.8 ED...

I think the 35mm is exactly how Bjorn described it as, internal flare at f1.4 but largely gone at f2 and just really sharp even wide open and peaks at f5.6 or so but who would go that low on such a lens anyway. :P

The 180mm I only tested briefly but the quality of the photos is quite impressive with it as well, will shoot more with it and get a better idea.

Heh, congratulations! The AiS 35mm f/1.4 is definitely the best 35mm Nikon has made so far. I'm not going to part with mine, ever.

The 180mm is a fine lens, too, and feels very nice. Its performance has been improved upon by the IF design used in the autofocus variants, however. I'd expect those to be a fair bit dearer, though.

Cheers
Steffen.

I'm happy definitely! And I've got a little crude review with photos coming up.

Nice work.

I'm pretty happy with 200mm F2.0 Ais I have it has lovely Bokeh. Although I think the 180 may be more usefull because of the less weight.

Congrats on your purchases.

MATT, I have seen some of the results from your 200mm f2, it's definitely a great lens, also I have since swapped my SB800 to get the 180mm f2.8, that is a great lens too, bokeh is very good, and only have 5 elements so it's simple and very effective.

Also I just heard Nikon made a AiS 300mm f2, cost about $10000 second hand, you should get one. :D
