D300 firmware update + D2X colour modes

Hey all,

I just updated the firmware on my D300 and also added the D2X/Xs colour spaces, I was just wondering if anyone else had done the same and if so if they have noticed a difference.

I will try to report any differences that I notice, but was interested to see if anyone has some heads ups for me to look out for. I am not sure if i will use the extra colour spaces too often though, as I have already modded the existing colour spaces to my liking, but I guess there is no harm in trying them.

The D2X colour controls are good. I have not bothered with the firmware as I understood it was for a specfic issue that is rare and I do not experience

Hi all,

I love this fucntion of the D300, as i also imported picture control created by others. For your information there are also Astia, Velvia, Optima curves out there.

The real power of these picture controls are that you can create your own while using Capture NX to suit the output you like and then download them to your camera. I haven't done it yet personally but am going to try it sooner or later !!

Wow, where do I get Velvia curves? Not sure I will use the D2 modes.

I think I got them all from either the Nikon Aust site or the Nikon international site, I cant remember.

I have not found too much use for the D2 modes. Not noticed any changes with the firmware upgrade, but it is meant to address a banding issue that only reveals itself under very specific circumstances

if youre shooting RAW capture NX lets you adjust camera settings and offers the dx modes

I've loaded up the D2x modes.. As I shoot mainly JPG they seem pretty good.
