the sigma is a great fun lens. 10mm is wide man. its also got great contrast/ colour and is very well built. you can get a sharper lens like the nikkor 12-24 or the tokina 11-16 but it's gonna cost ya. imo the nikkor is wayyyyyy over priced. the tokina 12-24 has almost the same optical performance for half the price.

The tamron 11-18 focuses painfully slow, I vote the Tokina 12-24. I have used both, but I have not had the chance to play with the sigma 10-22, Thom Hogan seems to like this lens though.

So the Nikkor if you can justify it, otherwise I would say the Tokina (not being able to say anything about the Sigma)

hey oneputt, ive had a 10-20 before when i used to run pentax gear and wasnt overly impressed, focus doesnt slow auto focus isnt really a factor as i usually manual focus anyway, im more interested in the optical performance of the actual lens!

What about the 14-24mm Nikon?
I have heard amazing things about this lens and the 24-70mm just blows me away.

The 14-24 is awesome, but carries a high price tag. But that is a good point, no one has mentioned it yet as a recommendation.
