Considering a new Fisheye lens.I've been thinking for quite a while to get a fisheye lens for use with my D300, and I think now's a good time.
I've been reading up and am interested in the following: Sigma 10-20mm Sigma 8mm Sigma 4.5mm Nikkor 10.5mm I have about 1 grand to spend, just don't know what to go for. Obviously I'd prefer to spend the least amount of money possible. Monty. D300|D70|24-70mm|70-200mm VR II|10.5mm Fisheye|70-300VR|50mm F1.8|Rokinon 85mm f1.4|SB-900/800/600

Re: Considering a new Fisheye lens.I know nothing about the others, but the 10.5 Nikkor is a fantastic little lens - and surprisingly versitile. It's DX, but that's not a problem to you at the moment, just a consideration.
IMO if you're looking at a fisheye, you should also factor in purchase of DXO for processing the images - this combination opens up massive opportunities. *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
Re: Considering a new Fisheye lens. And if you want the 10.5mm DX Nikkor - there is one up for grabs in the For Sale forum too ATM.
I have the 10-20mm ultra wide zoom Sigma and I do like it, but as mentioned it isn't a fisheye. Old D200+extras
Re: Considering a new Fisheye lens.Ah, thanks for the heads up on the 10-20mm.
That 10.5 Nikkor is very tempting. How big is the visible difference between 10.5mm and 8mm? Is 4.5mm a little excessive? D300|D70|24-70mm|70-200mm VR II|10.5mm Fisheye|70-300VR|50mm F1.8|Rokinon 85mm f1.4|SB-900/800/600

Re: Considering a new Fisheye lens.Monty - get the 10.5 Nikkor. It's a brilliant lens, is both fast & sharp and the second hand price here ATM makes it great value as well. You won't regret it.

Re: Considering a new Fisheye lens.In the true sense of the word the only two lenses on your list that are true fisheyes are the Sigma 8mm and 4.5mm. The Nikon 10.5 is not a fisheye just an ultra wide angle lens with distortion.
