It was reported in the Thai media yesterday that the Nikon plant in Ayuthaya, Thailand sacked 700 workers yesterday.

I read something similar on bythom.com. It is a sad thought that the global financial mess is affecting Nikon to the extent where they feel the need to sack workers.

It's funny you mention that, Matt. In Thailand they also laid off approx. 2000 workers at Canon (also announced yesterday). I'm not sure whether it is the plant where they make photographic equipment, but the Ayuthaya Nikon plant makes most (if not all) of Nikon's current DSLR models and some lenses.

This is good.....they make less cameras then it makes ours more valuable. It's like burning half the money in your wallet.....that means there is less money to go around so your other half increases in value. One day I will be the treasurer! :D :D :D
