Tamron 70-200 F2.8

Postby DanW on Wed Feb 18, 2009 3:26 pm

Need a little help.....

I bought the Tamron 70-200 a couple of months ago and have been using it a fair bit since. I've been getting some great pictures so I'm quite happy with the purchase. Unfortunately, last weekend it started playing up on me. First it wouldn't autofocus and then a bit later, the camera started showing F-- (lens) errors. When I gentle push down vertically on the lens, both problems disappear. The contacts on the lens and body (D90) both look clean and I've got no issues with my other lenses. I tried re-attaching the lens a few times and the problem persists.

Has anyone else had similar issues? I'm just a bit concerned as this is the first "heavy" lens I've used with the D90.

Thanks
Dan

Yes, it's still under warranty. Just wanted to know if there was anything simple that could be done before I go through the hassle.

Cheers

Pretty much anything you can 'do' will void warentee so just take it back and get them to fix it. You'll miss your lens but it will probably come back good as new.

Good point. It's been working well without problems this week so I think for the time being, I'll just keep an eye on it. Thankfully the lens comes with a 2 year warranty so if it happens again, I'll be covered.
