Gold Box Goodness

I had a mishap a few weeks ago and lost a bag within which were a few lenses and a video camera. It was all insured so duly, reported, claimed and arrived today 21 days after the claim was lodged. The insurer (AAMI) and supplier (Teds) gave me the opportunity to upgrade if required so I selected the 24- 70 2.8 to replace the 18 - 70 kit lens and the 70 - 300 now has vr. The 105 is identical to the one that was lost.

The new babies.

Looks like you benefited nicely from this claim. Still sucks to lose gear.

Enjoy your new kit!

Thanks guys. It is nice to know that after paying insurance for years they will look after you, in a fuss free manner, when things do go wrong. :D

Did they notice the $1500 difference?

After the insurer accepts the quote from the supplier you deal direct with the supplier. The payment of the insuance excess was payed by me to the supplier and the extra $1500 for the lens upgrade. My wife did notice the extra cost on the credit card though. :nono: But I braved the storm with the "look how much I saved" argument.

It is.

That, of course, is their job, but sometimes they don't seem to quite understand that point.

Good news, Craig; well done.

You make a good point. It IS their job. It's interesting how we all have such low expectations for a payout even when it's deserved. It's like paying for a haricut and hoping that they's take pity on you and cut your hair..
