I have done the upgrade and now my Sigma 24-70 won't work on the camera ( it is the last of the pre HSM lenses).
Will be ringing C.R.Kennedy in the morning for a rechip.

Pretty common thing with the sigmas by the looks of things, google presents lots of cases where sigma lens needed re-chipping or firmware upgrade. That said, not much out there on the D7000 firmware tripping this issue.

a interesting thought is that if Nikon wanted to be a royal pain in the ass they could do this every upgrade and really piss off the sigma owners...

Bad news - the lens can't be re-chiped, am now trying to find out whether I can undo the upgrade.

Shikes! What a royal pain! I always worry about my Tamron cheapie lens when I do firmware stuff (which is why I don't much firmware upgrades)

I suppose what I should do no is try all my lenses on Gerry's D7000 before I update mine (since I don't seem to be having any of the problems listed in the firmware update release notes).

I rang C.R.Kennedy and found no luck with my particular lens, having said that I now have a different problem in that both my non motor lenses (Nikon and Sigma) do not work on my camera - nikon said that this shouldn't happen and ring them tomorrow for a talk with a tech. BTW my motor in the lens lenses work as advertised, and I have gone back to the original firmware.

I definitely recommend this update, i had a few strange issues with teh SD slots the other day, where somehow the slots got swapped around - i think all the images are still there :/, not quite what is described in the fix, but will see if it happens again.

are you still on the old firmware? did you get any resolution on your sigma lens?
