Help finding Books on BW Digital

Postby rookie2 on Sat Feb 07, 2009 2:03 pm

Just looking for any recommendations on books on BW digital photography from capture to CS3 workflow & printing.

I think I would be a 'keen enthusiast' /intermediate level PS user.

I use a number of net tutorials that are really useful but I do like having a hard copy reference to fall back on and read away from the pc

I also have an R2400 printer now (thanks Jim - inmotion) :D and have lots of images that would come up well as BW prints. BW sports photography is where I am heading as prime interest at this stage of my journey!

I have a list from amazon including authors such as Hoffmann, Hamilton, and Beardsworth and would appreciate any feedback or recommendations from the learned people here.

I tried Borders here in Adelaide but zilch with these authors or specific field. The poor PP makes amazon prohibitive ATM along with some of the delivery times and costs of other online bookshops.

Any info much appreciated.

cheers

Thanks Fozzie

This one is on the top of my list ..but at $85+ph I would like to have a look at it first hand before purchasing.

Does anyone have it at home - is it too advanced? I have read its for 'serious - advanced photogs" - while I'm serious I'm not too sure on advanced bit!

Its a 2008 edition so has the advantage of CS3 techniques over the Maurice Hamiltons Black-White-Photography-Techniques-Photoshop that was released in 2005. (CS3 2007?)

Thanks again..I will keep looking and reviewing.

cheers

I've got the Beardsworth book Advanced Digital B&W Photography. It covers CS3.

I have found it very useful. It covers from capture to output spending most of the time in the middle, the digital darkroom.

I got it from Amazon a while back. I had two copies and gave one as a prize for one of the challenges.

cheers,

André
