Looking for a good place to do CANVAS prints

Postby aim54x on Wed Apr 15, 2009 1:29 pm

Hey all,

Mozzie wants to get a canvas done, and since neither of us have done one before we were wondering where is the best place to get one done. Where have you gotten yours done in the past? Who does the best quality? Who has the best prices?

We are located in the Sydney area, so anywhere in Sydney would be great (esp south west sydney - where mozzie is)

Cheers

Best Prices...apparently they will even beat competitors by 10%

http://zimprints.com.au/

located on King street in Newtown - I can recommend them, they have good prices and can print BIG.

The frames are just stock standard square timber, but I am sure if you ask you could get the rounded type.

I have got several done thru these guys and have a couple hanging in our house, I have also offloaded them as pressies :D

Let me know if you want to see a sample, i got this potw (http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=33614) printed pretty BIG.

Another neat solution is the multiple smaller canvas prints, i did this with half a dozen images, all sized to about 200mm x 200mm, all hanging adjacent to one another in a big square....

There is a place in Kingsford which may be cheaper but I have no experience with.. Will let you know of address when I figure it out.

Best thing would be get Zim to price match...

zim prints all the way!

haven't actually got anything done there yet but the quality is great looking at the displays, and well worth the meager prices.

Not sure what prices you are getting but BigW online has some great specials from time to time - I have had several done for cheap wall art and been happy with the quality for the price

Just wanted to post a followup review for Zimprints. I was insanely impressed with this place. I went down Thursday arvo (4ish) just before the shop closes, with an old photo (not digital) that i wanted to get done. Callan (the guy that runs it) was great - VERY friendly, helpful and really accomodating - which was great since I asked to have it done by Friday (as in the day after). Then on Friday I was running a tad late called him up and he kept the shop open for me despite having plans to go away on the weekend. If thats not service I don't know what is.

In terms of price of the few (and very few) I have checked this place is rather good value for money (exceptional if service and personality matters).

I am getting a few more done here over the next few weeks.

Thangs Gerry awesome suggestion

I sent Zimprints a query via their webpage on Sunday evening :!: about a pano that I've wanted to get done for ages. Three things to note:

a) Callan answered my email in an hour (ON A SUNDAY !!!)
b) He gave me an approximate quote which was better than anything else that I've seen anywhere else.
c) He can do aspect ratios other than what is listed on the website as he apparently makes the frames himself. Mine was a 1:3 ratio and he said that he wasn't a problem.

When I get this done, I'm going to them.

Are BigW canvas prints any good? They have 30% off the prices of Canvas prints now...

Thinking of getting a smaller 16x20" done to test the quality!

Please share your thoughts if you've had it done from BigW? Thanks!
