Where does PS save my actions?

Postby jdear on Tue May 16, 2006 9:52 pm

firstly mods... can we have a special 'photoshop' category for posts?

Ive recorded a few actions, and Id like to send them to someone. - I created an action for Greg Gorman's new B & W Conversion - now includes a high-pass filter and blend-if gray property. - greggorman.com - learn link on it ->pdf.

Where does Photoshop PS save this action so I can email it to someone and they can load it up inside PSPS CS help is most unhelpful...

Actions are automatically saved to the Actions Palette folder in the Adobe Photoshop or Adobe ImageReady CS Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost. You can save your actions to a separate actions file so that you can recover them if necessary. You can also load a variety of action sets that are shipped with Photoshop (Photoshop).

Note: The default location of the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder varies by operating system. Use your operating system's Find command to locate this folder.

so where is this magical folder???

OK...Before you make any actions you should start a new 'set'. This will be found in the actions menu. After doing this save all of your actions in this set. The set should be named something like "johns actions" or something identifiable. This set will then be found in the actions folder under MY COMPUTER/PROGRAM FILES/PHOTOSHOP/PRESETS/ACTIONS
You may have one or more actions in your "SET". Send this file to your friend.
Hope this helps.

Try Post Processing. People use more than just Photoshop.

First you have to create a new set to save the action under.

Now you choose this set under the actions tab then click on the little menu button next to the action tab (little round button with the arrow in it). Choose "save actions" and remember where you save it and your done.

To load an action do the same except choose "load actions"

Hope this helps
