Post processing of this fish photograph

There is a lot of flare from the strobes on this fish photograph:

I have played a bit with levels, but I don't think I have made it much better.

The first photos is a direct conversion from the RAW image (which I still have) and just cropped and resized.

Suggestions on what post processing I should try would be appreciated.

I'm afraid you might be out of luck with this one - looks like you've really blown the highlights and lost all the detail in the middle of the fish. You can try opening it in Adobe Camera Raw or Nikon Capture and reducing the exposure to recover any detail that is left but there is a limit to how much you'll be able to save.

If you get another chance at a shot like this, try setting the camera to centre-weighted metering and set the flash to -1.0ev or even -1.7ev. And of course, check the histogram to make sure you're not getting any clipped highlights.

Cheers,

Stephen
