Is it possible to create a PNG file which has a 100% transparent background with 50% transparent text on it? If so, how do I do it? This is part of my struggles to get Lightroom to let me do the things I can currently do with the tools I use now. Basically, the LR/Mogrify export function lets me put a graphics watermark on my image. I want to be able to put the text andrewtrevor-jones.com at the top left of each image. I'm already using the "Add text annotation" to add a copyright watermark on the top right of the image. i.e. I want to achieve something like this:

Andrew, glad you are going before me, I enjoyed Peter's tutorial but haven't had time to touch it yet. I am reading with interest your's and Chi's journey (I think we all know why Stubbsy had no problems with Vista, he is a computer guru). Just out of interest, why does your exif and watermark say 1984?

The photo was taken in 1984. I have had it published in the past, but I can't remember which year so I put the creation year on it.

Hi Andrew,
Yes you can.
Simply open a new document and choose transparent as you background colour, then add a new layer and place the text in the new layer, use the opacity slider to set the text layer at 50% then save as a png.
Out of interest how will you use lightroom to add this png to your shot? or do you plan to do it post lightroom? Edit: Never mind I just read the answer in your original post.

Andrew
As you know your approach is what I do. I created my image in Fireworks and set white to be transparent. My text has a dark grey fill (#666666) with a lighter grey (#999999) stroke around it. In LR/Mogrify I have overlay as Hard Light.
