Is the upgrade from Lightroom 1.0 to 1.3.1 free?

I want to purchase a legitimate copy of Lightroom. The US Adobe store had the download version available for US$299 but I can't buy that as I don't have a credit card with a US billing address. The AU Adobe store want AU$459 for the exact same download which is a markup of 40% for not doing anything at all.

I have found where I can buy a legitimate copy of 1.0 for $142 and so I figured I could buy that and just upgrade. So I need to know that the upgrade is free - or more accurately, the serial number from 1.0 will work with 1.3.1.

I haven't paid for any Lightroom update thus far, and I'm currently using 1.3.1.

The Lightroom 1.4 update has been temporarily removed from the Adobe.com web site in order to allow time for additional investigation into several bugs that were discovered after the update was released. At this time, we recommend uninstalling Lightroom 1.4 and installing Lightroom 1.3.1.

Lucky I didn't install the update. Although, the doco suggested it only had support for Nikon D60 and some obscure fix.
