Supercheap 1000, 7,8,9, OctoberJust thought I'd remind all your motorsport fans out there that the V8 circus is coming to Mount Panorama, Bathurst, the second weekend in October.
The friday is a good day to get photo's as track side isn't all that packed. The next two days are mayhem, but some great opportunities for pics. I can't wait to give my D70 a test drive. The racing is always messy and there's usually a good chance for pics on many of the easily accessed corners. It's only a 2 hour drive from outer Sydney, well worth the effort if your a closet rev head. Don't know if any one really cares, but if you do, look for the guy carrying a D70 in his hands and an esky on his back. That'll be me 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Well, I was a boy scout all those years ago, 'be prepared' and all that...
You can actually walk a long way in a day at the races and I'll be buggered if I'm paying $4.50 for a can of light beer! 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Hey Raskill
I/m thinking of going as well. Not sure what days yet. I havn't been there bofore. Where are the best spots to shoot from. Barry D700, 50 1.8, 14-24 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 70-200VR, 80-400VR, SB800 plus a lot of gadgets
Murrays Corner on the end of Conrod Straight. You get the cars decelerating and braking from about 200+ Km to about 80. Always a good lose there
Hell Corner at the end of pit straight is also good, but usually very busy on the race day. Anywhere across the top of the mount, Skyline, the Dipper etc are also good, but the top of the mount is a bit like the wild west, don't know if i'd want to take expensive gear up there. Thursday and Friday are practise days, and the crowds aren't very hectic, easy to get a spot right on the fence line for some good close shots. Saturday and Sunday are extremely busy, about 30000 trackside, most crammed around the fenceline to be close to the action. To get a good spot on race day, you need to be up there about 3:00 a.m. I used to do that, now I can't be bothered. The support races are also good, with the porsche cup, formula ford, etc providing plenty of entertainment. The town is also very busy, with all accomodation probably booked up months ago. It's worth a look about, there may still be rooms left though. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc
