D200 or something similar to Canon's weapon

Postby ishman on Mon Sep 26, 2005 11:05 am

Is this real or what?

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readf ... d=15145989

whatever it is the lens seems to be quite handy for multipurpose use.

Birdy, do you have price of the similar specs lens?

I wish it would hurry up, I told my wife I want a Dx2 the other day and she nearly wept, then I told her about the upcoming D200, and how it was going to be a better price and she warmed to the idea (well, thats how I took it)

Have to tell the truth, its release won't happen till next year by now unless something miracle happens, and we won't be able to see it at least June or Sept next year, that's the early date which I can see.

Happy shooting with what you have in your hands!

Sounds like we might be able to use our 2006 tax returns for the D200 by the time it hits the shelfs

Wouldn't it be in Nikon's best interest?

Postby Michael on Mon Sep 26, 2005 1:06 pm

Wouldn't it be in Nikon's best interest to release the d200 this year right before xmas and just before the new year arrives?

It makes sense to me, Probly becuase I want the d200.

If it doesn't come out within 6 months I think I may have to bite the bullet and buy a second d70s body.
Are we there yet?

I don't have any hope for Nikon will do anything before 31/12/05, the only possibilty is with the future major event, is the PMA in March 06.

Sleep well, haven't reach it far yet. still the long way to go!
The raw material hasn't been selected as yet!

Shouldn't have jumped ships :P

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

I keep hearing similar comments (surprisingly this is mainly "offlne" at camera clubs) about Canon's new low-end body (which I'm guessing would be called the 3000D). But I think it's too late.
Given the time it historically has taken Nikon and Canon to get products to market after announcement I doubt there'd be many units on the market in time for Christmas purchases if they announced it now, and the later in the year we get the worse the situation would be. Like Birddog I don't think we'll hear of new DSLRs from Canon/Nikon until PMA in February.

Of course they might prove me wrong and surprise everyone with a coordinated flood of cheap units for Christmas, but I doubt it.
