fortunately we don't have that storm on the Southside at the moment. Our bucketing was at lunchtime!!

Yup the new toy (it almost got wet :wink: ). The kit lens in my opinion is one of the most underated lens available to us :D

Just been trying to do that myself John... but nothing flash for me.. a few long exposures with bright skys but no lightning

Top photo tho... i really need to sneak up to the top of buderim and get coastwide lightning shots one day

sweet shot mate, a bit soft / blurry maybe? good work on catching the lightning though, certainly not easy! I nearly got killed rather stupidly the last time i tried it :)

The rain was actually coming down rather heavily which may account for some of the softness.

John, I was at Mooloolaba at the height of the storm picking up some Thai food opposite the Surf Club when one of those bolts hit very close. About 50 people jumped as one as it struck. Where did you take the picture from .... Caloundra?
In the end we know Nothing, but in the meantime Learn like crazy.

Dargen - the picture was taken from my balcony. We had one very close strike, blacking us out for about 10 minutes.

PiroStitch Exif - ISO 100 6 secs at f5.6 Focal length 70mm.

Saw that wild storm while flying into Brisbane last night. Wicked sight from in the air.

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.
