Battery Safety Recall - Nikon

Postby mrbillf on Sat Nov 19, 2005 10:22 am

Hi All,

After picking up the Newspaper from the front lawn this morning and continue to read it I found a recall on Nikon Batteries on Page 14 in this mornings Daily Telegragh. It reads:-

On rare occasions, the battery may overheat causing the battery to become deformed or, in the worst possible case, to catch fire.

EN-EL3 Batteries sold in Australia between August 2004 and October 2005.

EN-EL3 Batteries wew an included accessory for D100, D70 and D50 DSLR's

If your genuine Battery has a 4-digits production lot number beginning with 44A, 46A, 47A, 48A, 49A, 4AA, 4BA and 4CA are intitled to be replaced by Maxwell for FREE.

Follow the procedure below:-

1. Remove the battery from your camera as soon as possible and discontinue use immmediately.
2. Visit the Nikon EN-EL3 battery replacement website at: http://www.maxwell.com.au/support/batteryreplacement.htm for further instructions; or
3. send an email to recall@maxwell.com.au and an email with further instructions will be sent to you; or
4. call the hotline on 1800 810 259 (9.00am - 4.30pm AEDST weekdays)

Good luck
Regards,
Bill[/i]

Hi Bill,

Except for the bit about the ad in the Tele, this issue is fully canvassed here.

Thanx for providing this important piece of the puzzle, but I think that it's best all covered under the one thread, so I'll close this one if you don't mind.
