spada,
Buy and bring along with you a P&S, it'll be enough for what you will need ovethere! Or buy an AK-47 locally and shoot those bandits if it's in my case Last edited by birddog114 on Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:25 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Hey Spada, i also am going to VN soon ( in 4 weeks or so). Im going to be using my 24-120Vr and i might purchase a 70-300 just before i leave. Not sure how its really going to be but ive heard some of the scenery is stunning
If i had enough money, i'd probably go with the 12-24... Oh and ive heard that you can fire all sorts of Weapons used during the VN war at Cu Chi (just out of Saigon i think...) Min The most secure computer in the world is one not connected to the internet. Thats why I recommend Telstra ADSL.
AK is too big and bulky, ask him to bring back a Chicom K54 or K59 Birddog114

The sad thing is that there are probably plenty of AKs in the bankstown lakemba area already.
a few months ago the local constabulary found a 15hr old walking down a main road near my way with a locked and loaded AK-47. all they could do is take it off him. I think he got a warning due to his age. he apparently gave the cops a mouthful of threats too. Steve
Hi
I am going holliday in around 4 weeks,so I 've already talk to a friend who let me use his 12-24 ( Tokina) andin the long range I have my cheap Tamron 28-200 so everything is fine. Talk about AK it is hard to find weapons in all capital city in VN, even normal police is not armed, only for those with special mission are armed.BlackWater what will be the destination of your trip ? For Birddog the P39 is favorite for all the fighter pilot in south VN before, K54 is big and more powerful.Oh I do not know why human created weapons just to fight human . Regards spada
No, not the P39, It's the revolver P38, the Chicom K59 is smaller than the K54. The K59 were issued to their senior comrades and the K54 were issued to their "baby" squad leaders. Weapons are not hard to find in VN, it's cheaper than the price of the 50/1.8 for a brand new US made M16 (AR-15). Birddog114

All this VN talk is bringing back memories. I had a month in VN in Feb. Yes, along with the tunnels there's a firing range at Ch Chi. Great fun! Try any gun you feel like. I shot some rounds through some whopping big machine gun. At $1 USD per round the machine guns are not cheap I mainly used the 18-70. The 12-24 would have been great. I'll post a few of my favourite pics for review sometime. In the meantime you can check out some of them here. http://www.pixspot.com/thumbnails.php?album=816
A P&S is a good idea... I missed many opportunities while trying to unpack my D70 or while travelling around on a motorbike.
