Sigma 70 - 200 2.8 users I need advice.G'day
I've been using the 70 - 200 for a while now, but I've never used the tripod collar on it as normally I hand hold the lens. But recently I bought a monopod for when light is a little dim so I can get better lit clearer pictures with slower shutter speeds with the 70-200. But the collar on the lens when on the monopod is a tad sticky when trying to turn the camera from landscape to portrait. So has anyone else come across this and/or found a solution to the stickyness of the collar when trying to turn the lens. Thanks Michael. Are we there yet?
Actually mine turns easily without any sign of stickiness Sorry Michael.
Take it off and see if you can clean it, there might be something there causing your problem. Bugger I just saw the Sigma in front of your post "The good thing about meditation is that it makes doing nothing respectable"

Never had a problem....
In fact after trying both the nikkor and sigma I believe that the collar is better on the nikkor.... New page

Take the collar off the lens, spray some WD4 on the piece of cloth and wipe the internal of the collar, then it'll smooth. It happened to couple Sigma 70-200 and I did that way to my customers, some of them has some kind of residues and sticky on the barrel. Birddog114
