Volvo crashSnapped these on the way home this afternoon. I can't tell who or what caused the crash but being a Volvo driver myself it was sure to be the other guy. I was very impressed with the way the car deformed, exactly as designed, and the driver and passengers were uninjured. All of the glass was still intact and the doors could be opened and closed. Virtually no damage to the passenger cell whatsoever. I noted the excellent condition of the leather seats...much better than mine, (I drive the same model), and thought to myself..."hmmm could get these cheap"...but then though..."Perhaps now is not the time". Yes, I know, we D70 forum members are a sensitive and caring bunch.
Damned nice seats though! http://www.pbase.com/matt_k/image/37488206 http://www.pbase.com/matt_k/image/37488222 http://www.pbase.com/matt_k/image/37488222 Regards

Is that "Bloody Volvo Driver"?
Yeah! Volvo is strong enough against the other. Birddog114

My guess is blue car, speeding and trying to beat a red light, collects the Volvo on the way to hitting the pole, and spins the Volvo through 180 on the way through.
The Volvo would have just been taking off from the lights and wouldn't have had too much speed, hence it just spun on its axis. Blue car in the wrong, but the Volvo driver wasn't looking - simply took off when the lights went green - and wasn't aware of the blue missile coming in from his right. Volvo driver in a dream world theory proven once again. g.

Hey Matt - that's the corner of Reilly/Hume Hwy right? My mother-in-law lives just across the road!! Scary piece of road that one, I used to travel that every day when I lived at Casula and worked in Lansvale.
Wollongong Wolves, Manchester City, Newcastle Utd. D70 Freak!
Birdy....not many people know it...but Volvo and Nikon are the same company!
By the way...any truth to the rumour that the SB800 is made by Panasonic? I got this from a reliable source. Not joking here. Regards
Matt. K
It's not rumor! It's the truth, I have know that since SB-28DX, The shell of SB-800 is Nikon and all internal are from National Semi-Conductor, in Japan and some other Asia countries as Thailand they still call National instead of Panasonic, and National manufactures lot of electronic components. They are the same company. Last edited by birddog114 on Tue Dec 14, 2004 9:52 pm, edited 1 time in total.

here's my weird post for the day.Isn't Volvo owned by ford? So does that mean that I'm shooting with a Ford? This is all so weird and surreal...feeling kind of different...I'm losing my balance...everything spinning...not going to make it...Nikon...Ford...Volvo...etc etc.
But seriousely, isn't Volvo owned by Ford?
Yes, Dooda, Volvo is owned by Ford as is Aston Martin and Jaguar which are all part of Ford's PAG (Premier Automotive Group). I think those acquisitions would have raised Jaguar's quality control tenfold and dropped Volvo's.
I'm better now. Ford probably came in and bought the automotive arm of the company.
I know a high ranking official exec at Ford. He said that Ford is involved only from a distribution standpoint, development etc continues to be Volvos thing. This has now become the thread that has become completely irrelevant to the D70, or even photography in it's most general generic sense. So I'll bring it back. I wonder if Nikon (being related to Ford now) is going to put out boring disposable cameras cheaper than anyone else.
I read that the A pillars were designed to stop an elk (and a moose in Canada), which is a large Swedish kangaroo, I gather. Those photos confirm why I love these cars so much and have moved (finally) from the 240's to a 960 (straight 6 model and rear wheel drive). Probably the last of the real Volvos.
In the end we know Nothing, but in the meantime Learn like crazy.

Hell kurokaze204!
I had no idea I was on 640ISO until you pointed it out! Must have switched it the day before! Just goes to show the quality of the imagery if something like that isn't obvious when your'e editing your imagery. Also shows I need to take more care with the settings. Damned fine camera. Regards

Yep, I've done the same thing several times myself. And I agree ,that camera is awesome. Reading about how many short cuts were taken in its construction and how badly it performs compared with the Canon 1Ds and Nikon D2x, in my two week old experience I think those writers must be absolutely splitting hairs! (Of course I'm heavily biased )
Oh, and nice touch on the Christmas Forum Logo! After being in cloudy New York and London for two weeks I like the WB Aussie touch.
