Can't transfer photos to PCI recently got my d70 (thru birddog, thanks mate ), and I can transfer files to my home PC using the PictureProject that came with it.
I installed the drivers/picture project/nikon capure program at work - and no luck - it recognizes the USB device, it says it can see the Nikon D70 but PictureProject and NIkon capture say 'no camera detected'. I tried to install it on a 2nd work PC which is Windows XP (same as 1st work PC + home pc) and was freshly installed only a few days ago and it too does the same thing. I thought it was broken at first, so I quickly rushed home (and am transferring them to my home pc now heh)... so it DOES work... any idea?
This is often the result of not changing a switch in the custom menus though your case doesn't sound like it. If it is the custom menu (my camera is in service so can't check) varies between ptp and maybe mass storage device or similar, the menu item is called usb or something similar. Try changing that.
It sounds like you are using the camera to download images on. Buy a card reader, it's quicker, costs $20 and saves wearing out a $2,000 camera to do a $20 job
The interesting point here is that it works on the home PC but not the office PCs. That does not sound like a problem with mass storage etc!!

I had the same problem. One possible thing, and the cause of my problem. The first time the camera is connected, it needs to be connected under a administrator account to load the drivers. After that normal user or power user accounts work properly.
Cheers Matt
Yes it does. USB mode.
As Glen says, get a card reader. Make sure it's USB2 to maximise throughput. use it and live longer. g.
