Humidity and lenses

Postby Hendrix on Fri Dec 31, 2004 9:22 pm

In Queensland we have high humidity problems in the summer, what is the best way to stop this affecting the lenses.

I have a 50mm lenses that has fungi in it, and I am worried about the other ones.

I saw once a special cupboard with a smal heater in it for that.

Is there anything else or better?

TIA

Go get silica gels and stuff them in an old sock, leave it the camera bag.
Frequently take the silica gels out, dry them under the sun or leave them in the microwave with HIGH for couple minutes and re-use.

Birddog,

Any ideas where I can get Silica Gel. It is not available in my part of the world, and no one here has any idea of where to get it. No fungus in my lenses, but the wet is setting in, so I am naturally a little concerned.

Cheers

No problems, will post you one kilo of them next week, they came out from the IBM servers + PCs packaging.
