Dubai, and I can't go :(

Postby blacknstormy on Thu Mar 09, 2006 5:13 pm

Thought I'd share - we have been asked to go to Dubai (on Monday!!!) to do a fauna survey for a golf course in the desert ...... would I kill to go??? Yes .... do I want to go .... of course!!!! .... can we go .....
no :( Work committments kind of buggered up a chance of a lifetime - but what can you do? I spose at least they asked? :?

Oh well - it looks like Damo's dad is going to go for us, so at least I'll get to see the photos :)

Wendell - it was a paid job, covering all costs, fairs, accomodation and meals, as well as our daily rate :(, but as you say, we are doing ok :)

Just so you can see what I'm talking about : this is the site

Oh Wendell , if only it were that easy ....... our perm part time work means we can't go (ie can't get holidays quite that quick) - not the amount of work we have in our own business.....
But as Mark said, something even better will come up :)

And I still get to see the photos :) ;)

Narelle talking to Damian after seeing a camel through the binoculars:

"My Godfather - that one has a two huge lumps growing out of its back!"

I'm sure there will be more opportunities coming up soon, Rel. Just keep at it.

Cheers

Rel,
I was there 2 weeks ago. Got some pix on my new Smugmug site if you want to tease yourself. Look in the travel section.

I didn't see any animals there just more sand than you could ever imagine and the most amazing architecture.

But the place isn't for everyone - have a listen to what John Laws thinks of it. ( make sure there aren't any sensitive ears around)

We went to the ski centre - very impressive but at A$50 I didn't go inside to get a snap.
