Fairwell to DSLR (for a while) and AustraliaWell it's about 3 weeks now until I leave for sunny ole England, possibly for good. I leave at the end of March with a weeks stay in the UK then off to MidWest France (about 1hr North of Bordeaux) for a month to stay with my sister and her family for Easter. After that I will be back in the UK busily looking for work. While there I still hope to keep up my Bird Photography and possibly even do a few side trips to various places like Norway, Belgium, Hungary etc. It might be a while before I get internet access while I'm over, have to suss out if it's possible to get DSL at our friends house. It's been a great 20years in Australia, and I do plan to come back even if it's for a holiday as there are lots of places (and birds) that I need to still see.

I've started to investigate online some places I can visit close by to where I'll be staying. Hoping to get some photos of a Dartford Warbler which is known to frequent the New Forest (about 30min from where I'll be staying).

I will miss seeing your bird shots but maybe we will see some of the english variety. At least going from Melbourne to England, you wont have to much different weather to get used to!! Steve check out my image gallery @

Good luck kipper,
I will certainly miss your bird photos! ...But if you need a place to keep your 500 f4 while you are gone (just incase they don't allow it on the plane coz it looks like a missile launcher)... I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who would take good care of it Paul http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com
Living in poverty due to my addiction to NIKON... Is there a clinic that can help me?

If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??
Darryl, hope it all goes well for you over there. Was good fun taking those trips out to Banyule, WTP etc. Whatever you do don't give it up. You spent too much time trying to hide that lens from your parents!

Darryl, it is sad that I come on here after a week and a half's absence (blame my hectic work) to read of your departure.
It's been an honour to had met you at the maxi-meets, and a pleasure to be in your company online and off. You're a talented photographer and I've enjoyed your nature/birding pics, and hope you continue this pursuit. I wish you the best with your life changing decision to relocate, and hope to still have your presence in these humble forums.
