80-200 D ED lens question

Postby wmaburnett on Mon Apr 17, 2006 4:23 am

I have the 80-200 2.8 D ED lens two ring tripod collar version, and I noticed that my AF to M ring on it with the silver button never locks so i can just grab it and rotate, it doesn’t affect AF or manual focus it just wont lock like the one on my 60mm 2.8 micro, is it suppose to rotate from AF to Manual without touching the silver release? I have had it for about 3 months and have about 200 shots on it,
Thanks
~William

It's supposed to lock in place. You push the button to change from AF to MF. Although that shouldn't effect your shooting, you may want to check out if the button is stuck or broken.

Mine is a little like that, I found that if I use a little more force, it'll lock into place.
