Image optimization mode, what do you use?Do most people just shoot in normal?
Do people use Vivid? Portrait etc? what do the different color spaces mean (sRGB, adobe RGB...)?
I use custom, with a custom tone curve.
The list of settings and their effect on pictures, plus sample images, are available on Nikon's Digitutor website. I posted the link to it in the links forum, have a looksee, it might be interesting for ya.

Jolly good question Scott.
I have been looking at all of these settings, but haven't come to any conclusions yet. the sRGB colourspace seems to be the way to go - and it is the default so we are already using it - but I still only have a vague idea of the colourspace concept. From what I have read, there isn't much you can do in the camera that can't be done better in photoshop. My plan is to have some in camera stuff going on for "general" shooting, and go with either NEF or unprocessed jpg when I am getting serious. Having lots of variables is a fun, useful and a huge challenge. Greg - - - - D200 etc
