Need to rent a high-speed scanner...

Postby garyr on Fri Jul 14, 2006 2:24 pm

Hi Folks,

Hope someone is able to help me with some suggestions - I have years of paper photos to capture digitally, my current manual-feed, 3 year old scanner is going to take forever :-)

Does anyone know of a place in Brisbane that will rent out a decent auto-feed, high-speed scanner for a couple of weeks? I know I can take the photos to a shop to have it done but that may be cost-prohibitive for me.

Appreciate any advice as always,

Thanks

How big do you want your file sizes to be?

Matt K. mentioned to me last week that he gets great results from using his DSLR to take images of photographs. Maybe you can PM him to explain how it's done.

If you definatly want to scan them, try Kayell Qld http://www.kayellqld.com.au/7.html

From what I can see though it's in house only and at $35/hour it's probably a bit pricey.

Thanks huynhie and Mark, appreciate the thoughtful advice.

I think I'll give Kayells a go. I can see how taking images of the photos with my DSLR, whilst a neat learning experience, will drive me nuts with my kit glass, so......er, wait.....hmm, maybe a business case to get some of that good glass I've been wanting?......arrgh - decisions!

Cheers
