Now here's something I'd like to see on the new NikonThe SD10 (Sigma) digital SLR camera has a unique feature pertaining to its viewfinder. It allows the finder to show 130% of the picture area. This is very useful, as it enables you to see what is happening outside the picture area, allowing you to anticipate people or objects entering the picture. This can be especially desirable for action photography, like sports, etc. The active picture area is visible at normal brightness, while the peripheral areas are masked with neutral density, making it easy to differentiate the two.

Yes Matt, this would be very handy.
It is the standard arrangement with movie cameras, the director sees the actual image area as a cutout within a larger view. Greg - - - - D200 etc

yep thats what i do always watching with the left eye while right eye watches view finder and constantly checks the grid, 3rd's etc
Matt, your wish has been granted. The D2X in 6.8MP mode allows you to see outside the frame. It also magically applies a teleconverter to all your lenses without the loss of a stop (or more) of light!!
Nikon was implementing what you were thinking... now just fork over the est $US5k pricetag.
And you can still keep your other eye open too! (That's what I do) g.

Onyx, it's cheap! and am waiting to see and hold it in my hand! do you know how many hours of works which Nikon put into developing this camera? Taking those hours into account, US$5K is relatively small. Did you know what is RRP of the D1x prior it's released? We can't argue on its merit but in the near future, the D2x will be around US$4k once the supply is fullfilled the demand, another 6 -7 months. Birddog114
