20-35mm 2.8 lens

Postby TonyH on Mon Oct 02, 2006 10:15 am

Does anyne have a 20-35mm 2.8 lens?

could you post an opinion on its performance?

I have the opportunity to buy one secondhand. I'm looking primarily to add to the arsenal for wedding shoots and general low light shooting.

I do have this range covered with a couple of lenses including the kit lens. However, non are in the 2.8mm spectrum (apart from primes).

What would the maximum you would pay for this lens in good nick?

Cheers

Tony

This lens was replaced by the 17-35/2.8 lens, was one of the many favourites in the older times. But its tiny marginal zoom level makes not really a difference, specially on a digital body.

How much are you getting offered?

Hi Tony,

I have a 20-35mm Nikkor and I love it. It is great for function work where you are working in confined spaces and yet you do not want to go to extreme wideangle coverage. The lens is incredibly sharp and reliable. I have had mine since new in 1994 and it is still going strong. I prefer it to the 17-35 because it is smaller and does no rely on silent wave.

Hope this is a help. Antsl
