Where to get old photos scanned and copied to CD??

Postby Oscar on Thu Oct 19, 2006 9:37 am

My daughter is visiting (she is based in Austria ATM) and has found some old photos, negatives and slides. She would like to get these onto a CD to take to Austria when she goes back.
Anyone recommend where I should get this done (somewhere in the Sydney CBD)?? And will she get good results from this process?
Cheers, Mick

How many images are you looking at? The pro lba might cost abit. Maybe some members on this forum might have scanners?

Mick,

I know that Colin, aka ColCam, does this as a business but he is based on the Sunshine coast. However, he may know someone in Sydney to recommend. Send him a PM or contact him via his web site:

Hi Vince. My daughter thinks she wants around 20-30 images.
Not sure what she has found but I know she has some photos and negatives.
We are happy to pay for them to be done - so this isn't too big of an issue.
Just not sure how good a job some of the labs do and she wants to be able to get reasonable images when she views them on her pc.
Cheers, Mick

Hi Mick, have a look at visiongraphics, they should be able to help.

Mick, any place you used to get your prints developed should be able to scan and burn to CD.

The one time I used film recently, I got Paxtons (in Westfields Parra) to scan to CD. A roll cost ~$10. It was done on a Noritsu machine, and scanned to their highest grade, which was around 6MP files - equivalent in size to the D70's output (though the latter definitely has more resolution IMHO).

Hope your daughter's enjoying her visit to Sydney. :)

Thanks Chi. I had considered Paxtons in the city. But wasn't sure how good a job they would do nor how much this may cost.
Were you happy with the results?

I think Melanie is really enjoying herself. She worked long hours to save for this trip - so she is making the most of it.

Cheers, Mick :) :)
