Card reader reviewsLooking to buy a card reader, are there reviews for these things and if you're an expert on them, which is the fastest card reader to get?

Some great comparisons on "card to computer" on the above link
I went from a basic Lexar USB reader (RW016-D) to a SanDisk ImageMate CF Reader (SDDR-92) and was blown away by how much faster the newer reader was. I can't remember the exact timings (and I did some timed tests) but I think it was 3 to 5 times faster. I don't know if the one I have is the fastest, but it is certainly fast enough for me.
If you are after the best combination of card and reader at the moment I would be going for the Sandisk Extreme FireWire card reader and then buying a couple of Sandisk Extreme IV cards to go with it .... the download rate is a rather useful 2GB a minute. Great if you have a client standing about waiting to see the images in a hurry. Although they do cost more, the last Extreme IV 4GB card I bought only cost about $140 which I think is a reasonable price for the performance. Buy once, buy right I say.
The card will also work with other cards but at about half the speed.
Fair enough, but you need FireWire800 to achieve these speeds. If you do not have firewire, forget it. If you only have fire wire400, speeds appear comparable to a fast USB reader. I have used both side by side, but not tested with any rigour. Greg
It's easy to be good... when there is nothing else to do
Have a look at this site for some card reader reviews and database
