Actually might be fair to say some of the 6400iso shots are as good too, maybe.

Me too Craig. Having read everything I can get my hands on about the D3 and the D300, the D3 is the one for me. I've been umming and aarring for ages now about the D2X, D2Xs and it's always been the high ISO performance that I've been concerned about. I figure if I'm going to fork out $5K or more for a body, I want one that can deliver great performance in all lighting conditions. With the D3 announcement, my dreams have come true if the production models live up to the hype. I'll be getting a D3 as soon as they're available (assuming no teething problems).

Cheers
John

Is there a spec sheet? Will she be listed in the bargains section? Or are we talking about top quality here :)

No spec sheets, too may varialbles (dimensions change regularly, performance varies with inputs etc). I do not think it would be fair to put her into the Bargains section... I was thinking the Challenges section might be more apt.....

You are right... some things are best not shown to ones partner!

I am meant to be getting the D3 to review somestage next month... I am hoping to do a head to head against the D200 in some challenging light conditions... I am hoping to then accidently let my partner see some of the comparison images side by side at which point she might just happen to ask why there is such a difference between the two..... and then I get to pitch a case for buying a D3!

It has already been a financially challenging few months for us.... we are getting married in November, we move into a new (old) house in October and the car is making funny noises that will eventually require attention... then there is the fact that we both want me to finish my flight training so I can finish my PPL and we can start going places together. Trying to swing the D3 into the equation might just be the straw that breaks the camel's back...... (makes note to buy a tougher camel)...

The review should appear in Australian Photography about January 08 (Australian Photography like a few other magazines has long lead times).

From a reliable source...
Nikon is going to announce a new camera (let's name it D3X) with full frame and sensor resolution between 23 - 28 Mpix. Announce should be on February PMA. It will be a replacement for D2X.
Also D200/D300 camers line will be DX format only. No full frame.

Maybe the D3 price will drop in line with that. (I doubt it though)
